CFA Level 1 study plan questions

How many hours should I study for CFA Level 1?

CFA Institute reports that Level I candidates spend about 300 hours preparing on average. The planner uses that figure; your own total depends on your background and how much of the curriculum is new to you.

When should I start studying for the CFA Level 1 exam?

Work backwards from your exam window: divide 300 hours by the hours you can study each week, then keep 4 buffer weeks before the window opens. At 10 hours a week that is 30 study weeks plus the buffer, about 8 months.

What does the calendar file contain?

Your start date, a short weekly check-in with your hours target until the buffer begins, the start of your buffer weeks and your exam window. It is a standard .ics file for Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. Nothing is sent by email.

Does the plan include CFA registration deadlines?

No. It plans study time only. Registration, scheduling and fee deadlines are in Quizara's 2027 CFA Level I exam guide, and your CFA Institute account is the authority for your own appointment.
